i want to install a factory backup camera from an 09 (camera in the ford oval) on my 08 king ranch. the truck did not come from the factory with the nav unit, but was added later.

can i make the 09 camera work with my 08 nav unit? i have read some things about the screen not working without some type of software...maybe it needs to be reflashed by the dealer. anyways, i've searched for a while now and cant find any info on this particular situation. it seems everyone either wants the image in the mirror, or is connecting the 09 camera to an aftermarket nav unit.

the primary reason i want to use the nav unit for the camera is the truck has a bed cover and its extremely difficult to back my 14' boat down the ramp with the bed cover.
