Expedition Thoughts
Me and the wife are looking for a SUV, preferably an Expedition. We had a 2002 many years ago, but sold when fuel prices soared and she quit her job to go back to school.
We're keeping our 2014 Fusion for my daughter to drive (turns 16 in a year) and wife's commute is minimal, so this expy won't see tons of miles/use.
We're thinking 2001-2004 models, hopefully 150K miles or under. We Like the 03-08 body style but I absolutely refuse to get another 5.4 3 valve after my 06 F150 crapped on me. If I'm reading correctly, the 3 valve wasn't in the Expys until 05?
Anyone have any helpful reviews/pros/cons on the 03-04 models? I see tons of them for sale which worries me a little. I realize at this age and mileage there will be things that come up, but any known major issues?
The 2002 we had was awesome (wish we had kept), but they redesigned in 2003.

Why did your F150 crap out? Motors are going to have issues. Thankfully this far down the road there is proven fixes for the issues. Buying used is always a crap shoot. Without a bullet proof vehicle history it is tough to know what you are going to get. The beauty with buying another 3 valve is that you have a little leverage with price to get needed items repaired. I really like the look of the 2004 .
The Expedition is a VERY heavy vehicle. I have owned a '99 and an '09 Expedition and they were VERY heavy off road. I'd get an F150 or Super Duty, with a camper if you want to go for an expedition vehicle. However, each to their own. Some guys/gals on here might disagree with me.
