Default exhaust tips!

i want to know what different size tips will do with the sounds of my exhaust, i have 5.4 with true dual straight pipes and i had new tips put on and the shop said they did the same size (they look at little bigger in width) but the end is a more vertical slash cut, and when i mash it i get an annoying ta ta ta ta sound rather than the smoth loud roar it had before (that rhymed ha). any answers or help?

My father owns an exhaust shop and we have never seen tips
Change sound. Just an appearance thing. What muffler are you running? What size pipe to tip do u have? My truck does that but only in neutral when the rpms can skyrocket

its true dual straight pipes, no muffler, and im pretty sure its 2.5 inch pipes to 3.5 inch
, i just feel like a smaller tip would balance out the annoying sound

I can't believe how many people on here have straight pipes. I value my hearing, so no thanks.

Ive got straights on my 5.8. Can barely tell with the windows up. Can still hold a quiet conversation.

How can this thread still keep going? Straight pipes are either an inexpensive or desired sound level for the owner. Nobody seems to give a hoot about the outside sound level, and tips won't change that. Question answered.

I beg to differ, tips do change the sound! They act like a megaphone, the bigger they are, the more they project, go put on 3.5 or 4 inch tips and try and say it's not louder!
