Default Exhaust question?

I was thinking about doing something with the exhaust on my truck to make it sound a little better. I dont want it to be really loud but would like a little more aggresive sound. Could I just get a muffle and replace the factory unit and add a tip? If so, is there any model that yall like? Thanks

Find a muffler shop (usually the privately owned) that will slip on several mufflers and then start the truck for you so you can hear what the truck will sound like.

I've been using a muffler shop in Sanford Florida for years that does this. When they did my truck, they had it on the lift, cut the factory muffler off, then slipped on 4 different mufflers and started the truck, and rev'd the engine. I went with a turbo style muffler (made by Walker). They welded everything up, and installed a nice chrome tip. Think I paid about $65.00 for all the work. I kept the factory tubing; used a single in, single out. I have a 4.2 V6, so I was not going to gain much more going with single in, dual out, or "true dual" setup. I saved that money for other upgrades.

My truck is not loud, but has a nice tone when idling and excellerating, but definately breathes much better, and getting rid of the factory muffler (horse troft) dropped a few pounds from the truck as well.
