Error Code: Intake Manifold Runner Control?
While driving my truck the other day the check engine light came on. I took it to Advance Auto Parts and the code was P2004 & P2006. These codes mean the IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) is stuck open/closed. I have recently cleaned the MAF as well as the throttle body.
I've done a little research on this issue and a lot of people jump to the conclusion to just replace the IMRC which the part runs about $100 bucks and if done at the shop it can charge upwards to $500. Is there anything I can do to see if replacement is not necessary? Is there anything else to check?
Lastly, if I do feel like replacing the IMRC, how tough of a job is it? Is it worth trying to do myself to save $400 bucks? Any advice is appreciated!
