Default Engine work...

Have a 2004 Ford F-150 super crew 5.4L. I am going to change all the timing components (phasers, chains, tension era, etc.) because of the dreaded death rattle. I might as well replace the oil pump and water pump. Doing the spark plugs and coils. Replacing the valve lifters.

Anything else anyone can add? The engine has 128,000 miles. Runs great other than the cam phaser issue, no leaks or signs of any other troubles. Suggestions are appreciated!

you pretty much covered it all..

phasers/vct solenoids/chains/guides/tensioners

plugs.. not sure if i'd spend the cash on coils.. replace the boots/springs

oil pump/water pump lifts/followers

if you're taking the motor out.. if some reason... do the exhaust manifolds.. prone for "ticking" as well and cracking

Not taking the motor out, was thinking about the exhaust manifold though. Would rather have a root canal... Lol

Don't worry.. I have one to do tomorrow at work.. but definitely get it done! as you will be annoyed you did all that phaser work and still have a ticking.. although theses trucks tick for loud injectors
