Default Engine Stutter at 3000 RPM when accelerating

When accelerating into traffic my engine will Stutter going past 3000 rpm. It doesn't always do it and there seems to be no corresponding condition such as being cold. There are no warning lights and no codes being thrown. One mechanic is trying to tell me that's normal and another is telling me I have a bad coil.

It's a 2005 xlt 4x4 5.4 with 101,000 miles. I suspect I may need to deal with the phaser issue soon and wondering if that may be the cause.

Any thought?

Have you done plugs? When was the last time you changed fuel filter?

I haven't done plugs or filter. I have only had the truck about three months. All I have done so far is an oil change and new tires.

Plugs are on my to do list but the fuel filter wasn't. Going on now.

I have read that the drive shaft in the years 04 to 08 doesn't have any grease around the splines where it connects to the transfer case and the differential. They said use teflon grease and grease the splines and that should fix it unless other issues. They make a liquid the shops call it a hot dog. Redtube that you pour down the transmission tube. Called anti shutter.
