Its tough to hear the knock I think its there but mostly all I hear is injectors. If the knock goes away above 1 to 1.2k rpm and only does it when hot it is most likely the phasers. Best thing to do when you fix the phasers is replace everything while youre in there. Phasers, VCT solenoids, chain guides, lashers, ect.

I hear a little bit of VCT action going on and injector noise like Gman said. These motors are inherently noisy little buggers

This is just my non-pro opinion, but it sounds fine. Maybe a light tapping. Of course, my PC speakers aren't the greatest. The VCT system and injectors on these trucks are noisy. Now, if you're hearing it bad throughout the cab, the phasers could be going down hill. The ones I've heard that were bad, were audible from quite a few feet away.
Maybe someone else will chime in as well. I'd hate for you to do a timing rebuild for no reason

I could hear it the best at the last few seconds. like stated, these are noisy engines. I could hear the injector tick, but there is deffinitly some sort of knock also.

Mine is much worse than that and has been doing it for years. It has been running fine though. But I will not be dumping the time and money into it to do the job because I don't plan on keeping the truck too much longer. I just hope it doesn't die on me before I get rid of it.

If I were you and you plan on keeping it for a while I would go ahead and replace all timing components.

With th motor shaking at idle do you think the phasers could be causing that too? I doubt the original plugs have been changed.

I agree, I think this engine has been badly neglected and needs some serious TLC

Yeah. If you wanna keep it for a while. Look into doing the Plugs/Coil Packs. Change the oil, using a motorcraft filter. The shaking could be from the plugs. Start simple

And do oil changes VERY frequently to clean the inside out
