Well, i was the orginal creator of this thread and I decided to ditch the truck. Dodge gave me a fair price on it and I bought a RAM 1500. I guess I'll get flogged out of the forum, but I can't buy another Ford.

Bought a new 2000 F150 Lariat - burned to the ground because of cruise control issue.
Bought a new 2004 F150 Lariat - Replaced transmission VCT knocking like crazy and then had main bearing issues. (only 78,000 miles)

I decided on dodge because 1. They have made mad improvements on the look of thier truck and 2. LIFETIME dirvetrain warrenty. All I want is to buy a nice truck and keep it. I don't want it to die after 5 years and I don't want to trade it in for a new model. At least last 150,000.

I know there are plenty of Ford trucks that last and are good trucks, but that wasn't my experience. I guess I'll go find a Dodge forum.

they will run fine without a converter they are for emmisions only but you will need your o2 sensors to run but if your truck is newer than 96 it will throw a code and you wont be able to get inspected

Drop a 4.5L powerstroke diesel in it! I'm doing one to my project truck now! Basically a 6.0 missing 2 cylinders

I'm doing a mild write up in the off topic section it explains most of it! Whole truck will cost under 10k! Look it up called 5.4 3 valve to stoker!

I just replaced my engine with a Reman. 5.4L from LKQ. Cost me $3400 including tax, shipping and them taking my core. Just Google LKQ for their contact info. It will run you another $2000 or more to have it installed...depending on what other parts you will need...belts, hoses, water pump, coils, etc...
