Default Engine Light

Well I've had the truck for about a month and tonight i was driving home and boom the light went on. I was surprised because about a week ago i had it at my mechanics getting a check up just to make sure everything was ok. He even through the code reader on it and everything checked out fine. My mechanic and me both dont like CAI so he said those sometime throw up errors. Any help from you guys?

Assuming you are refering to the "check engine light", we need your trouble code to help you. Any large parts store chain can read the codes, usually for free (if you do not have a code reader).

Do do the investigation yourself, go to Google.com, enter the P0xxxx code in their search box, and you will have dozens of links you can go to and read up on what your trouble code is all about, plus "most likely fixes".

Your statement on CAI is puzzling (My mechanic and me both dont like CAI so he said those sometime throw up errors); Do you have one installed but don't like it? Do you think this is why you have a code (if you have one installed)?

For the record, They don't creat trouble codes when installed properly. Most of the early 5.4's require a tune though to prevent a possible lean fuel condition.

Sorry not enough info i guess. I just prefer to have an oem setup over the CAI. I don't know if it's tuned correctly since I just picked the truck up. But today I went to autozone and apparantly there's some new law they claim where they can't do that. Sound fishy but whatever. I guess I'll have my mechanic throw it on real quick and hopefully its something that's not a huge deal.

I got the same reply at my Autozone here in SOCAL. Funny thing is, there is a PepBoys a stone throw away and they do it for free. I bought my own anyway.
