Electronic throttle control
Well I was driving home from church and realized that a light was on and I didn't know what it was so I looked in the handbook and told me is was the electronic throttle control. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
If you're refering to the Check Engine Light, and you plugged in a code reader into your OBD II port and obtained a Pxxxx code that indicated this, then provide us this exact code, and we can help you more.
I suspect the "Check Engine" light came on, and someone told you it was for the electronic throttle control. Be aware that when this light is on, it indicates that the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) has detected a fault in the vehicle, and has stored a code, or codes. It can be any one of 30 or more codes, and they can be indicating any one of a hundred things wrong.
It's best to take the truck to a parts store and have the code read. Then post the code here and we can help.
If it is the electronic throttle control, this is within the throttle body. Follow the air intake tube to the top of the engine; the electronic throttle control is used to measure how far open or closed the throttle is, based on your foot on the gas pedal (not really a "gas" pedal anymore!). This sends a signal to the PCM, amongst many other sensors in the engine and drivetrain area to determine how much fuel the injectors need to be spraying (open/close the injector nozzles). It's all electronic these days....
Post the code.
