Default Electrical issue

Looking for any input, I have a 2004 f150 5.4, the other day I left my house and less than a mile away all guages, ac fan and power windows quit, truck went into limp mode. I got turned around and headed back to the house and everything came back but I had a check engine light which after connecting my code reader I am pretty sure was caused by going into limp mode. When I got home I turned ignition off and tried to restart and it wouldn't even turn over and battery read 8 volts. I jump started it and it was reading 13.7 while running. Any ideas guys?

I'd be checking the battery terminals and cables both ends. Positive side and ground side for being loose or corroded.

good suggestions already, but would add:
- have batt and alt prof tested
- list actual dtc codes if/when posting about an issue.

Sounds more like a failing alternator and your battery ran down.

When my truck had similar symptoms it was caused by a bad alternator. So as already suggested, I'd head to Advance Auto or another auto parts store for a free alternator and battery test.
