Default Electrical issue .....?????

Ok back at it again with fixing odds and ends on the truck. My question is dealing with the interior lights. When I turn off the truck and open the door my overhead lights come on sometimes, sometimes they don't and sometimes the flicker. I can weld, fix anything and figure out almost all of it, but with wiring and electricity. I can't see it therefore I suck at it. Can anyone out there tell me where the grounds are that deal with this? I am hoping its a loose ground. Or can anyone tell me how to repair this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i had a similar issue with my truck. the lights would flicker inside, sometimes when i open the door and sometimes while a was driving. one day i hit the overhead light cover above the radio and hasn't flickered since. it must have been a lose connection somewhere. try doing the same to yours. hope this helps

Is it just the drivers door, or passenger door also?
Something easy to try, is spray some wd40 in the door latch. Possibility that the switch in the latch is hanging up. I would also take a look at your 3rd brakelight. They are known to leak. Could be corroded or be shorting.
Don't know, just something to try.

A sticking door latch switch is the first thing that comes to my mind. Do as suggested above and spray the latch mechanism with a good dose of WD-40, and then open/close the door several times. If the light function becomes more consistent, you have your problem. This has been something of an ongoing issue for a long time, like 20(+) years.

If the above don't fix it, pull up the drivers door sill.. look in the wiring channel for water/corrosion.

If it only occurs when the lights are supposed to be on, the contacts between the bulbs and the circuitboard are probably loose; that's the issue between on my passenger front map light. Twisted out the bulb, bent the tangs on the bulb holder up so it presses against the board better, problem solved.
