EGR Valve Testing?
2008 F150 Supercrew 4.6l V8, 85,000 miles
I’ve had symptoms of a minor vacuum leak for some time (slightly rough idle, clears up under load). I’ve recently replaced plugs and boots. Using Mode 6 test in FORScan Lite:
EGR Bank 2
Upstream Hose Disconnected Test
MID: 32
TID: 82
Value: 0.209 kPa
Min: -32.768 kPa
Max: -32.659 kPa
I pulled the EGR valve today (that bottom pipe connection at the exhaust manifold was fun), and using my vacuum pump tried to cycle the EGR but none of the ports will cycle it. I did reach in with needle nose pliers on the shaft and cycle it though. Is there some way to manually test it?
By the way I may have had a vacuum leak where the vacuum connector hooks to the EGR valve. When removing it I either broke the small (brittle plastic) vacuum line or it was already broken. New one on the way.
