Regardless I must have a battery that has seen better days. I'm going to go with an AutoCraft Silver 58 550 CCA since I see mild winters here in GA, but it does have a 2 year warranty, and a 5 year prorate. I might be the exception and the guys at Advanced Auto Parts say the battery is good, but whatever...i'm tired of jumping it off. I've done it about 1/2 dozen times now since I installed the programmer in December 2011.
How do you know it the Edge doing it Hoppy ??

Just so everyone knows, the Edge/Gryphon while plugged in does have a KAM (keep alive memory) energy draw. Once the truck has "sat" for about an hour, maybe less, the battery saver feature kicks in. But, there is still a 0.05 Amp draw (50 miliamps) even when this has taken place. The current is powering the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) in the radio, the clock, the wireless door lock receiver, the position of the driver's seat (in my truck), the A/C temperature and so on. There is also some KAM current going to the PCM that holds the long term fuel trims, and other "learned" portions of the "adaptive learning strategy" it employs.

By itself, that's not too bad of a current draw. It amounts to 1.2 Amps per day, and, if a battery is considered discharged after 55 Amps are gone, it can sit for 45-46 days before the battery is dead.

Thanks for the info Otto! So, bottom line...don't always trust the battery testers at the local auto stores because I did and it has hurt me a couple times.

I had a batt replaced at my local sears only because I was able to get a nice discount at the time. Worked great for the first 8 months then it want. I had my truck in sears 2x then to the kmart that had the sears auto center also I heard my starter was bad and my alt was bad they all insisted my battery was great so I removed both my starter and alt took them to a shop to be tested. Both items pasted with no trouble. Installed them drove to olive garden for dinner with the wife and son to come out and find I needed a jump again a call to sears Corp while I was waiting for my friend to give me a jump got me a new batt the next morning and now all is well 3 months without issue

Bought a battery today, Sam's Club had them on sale for $80. Already noticed a difference with the truck start up.
