Default Edge or Gryphon?

I'm in the market for a tuner for my truck. I have a flow master exhaust and a K&N 77 series intake. I like the fact of having the tuner mounted to my dash but I've never had any experience with one. I've read a lot about them and I'm just curious what one would suit my needs with havin a exhaust and intake. Any help would be appreciated. Do I need custom tunes or would either one of these programmers have a setting already in there for them?

Check out the Aftermarket section----- the sticky about programmers.

Edge----canned tunes. Gryphon----custom tunes.

Depending on your year and engine, the earlier models have been known to run lean. Custom tunes are always a benefit.

I would say Gryphon because of your mods.

i have a dash mounted Gryphon, i love it everything is right there, the only bad thing about it is dealing with Power Hungry Performance it takes forever to get something done and their communication skills suck and they are a PITA to deal with

Jrmongi.....do you have intake and exhaust? I'm not looking for crazy tuning. Just something a little better than stock.

I have a flowmaster force 2 system for about 8 months now I have selected to do the gotts mod instead of the cai. And I am very impressed it a new truck. I have not found the need for custom tunes yet

Yeah ive had my Edge for a year now mostly running the stock tow tune. I got it for recalibrating my speedo with my 35" tires. I am completely happy with it for what i wanted. I just recently purchased a 87 performance tune from PHP for my Edge (soon to be gryphon) and should have it by the end of the month. Cant wait to see if there is a noticeable difference.

PHP told me that you only really need custom tunes if you have a TRUE cold air intake. The exhaust isn't a big deal.

That being said, I LOVE my Gryphon. I'm having a small problem with it adjusting my tire size and gear ratio though, so I have to call PHP tomorrow...
