I was reading the manual it says to make sure to return settings to stock before you unplug it. It also said you wouldnt be able to do anything if you didnt return it to stock.

Just making this post so it is clear for anyone else who may come upon this post at a later date.

You can unplug your Tuner at any time, wether you have your truck in a tune or back at stock. Simply make sure when you unplug it that the truck is off, and when you plug it back in that the truck is again, off.
The Tuner must have returned the truck back to stock before you can update it as it memorizes the VIN number of the vehicle to prevent theft.
If it is not returned to stock it is unuseable to any other truck/unupdateable.

I got that when I was using the Lightning software. I used the Fusion and on the first time it worked. Now everytime I start my truck I have a warning on my Evo. I have to hit enter to get rid of it. Tells me not to use it while driving that sorta stuff.

I ran into this problem last week. I purchased a used unlocked edge but was unable to update is. I called edge and they said that the older version had to be sent into edge and they will replace it with a newer version. I am waiting to get mine back right now.
