Default DRL Headlights not working

To my fellow Ford Truck enthusiast,
I have a 2004 F-150 Supercrew XLT 5.4L; My question is when I use the DRL the headlights do not come on, but the markers do. The headlights do work when switched to the manual position. So if anyone could solve this for me, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

Are you in Canada? Don't think the American F150s have DRL option.

No, I'm in the US. On the light switch, you turn it to the left (counter clockwise) and the lights are always on when the engine is running known as the daytime running lights (automatic head lights). Turn the light switch to the right (Clockwise) manual mode.

The automatic headlights in my 05 F150 don't come on until it gets dark enough outside. They're not DRLs. The sensor in the F150 is not nearly as sensitive as the one in my Camry (although that does have DRL too). I don't know if they made DRLs for our pickups, maybe it was an option?

I know my 07' has automatic (switch turned to the left) which turns lights on when it gets dark enough, parking lights (one click right), and full time lights on (two clicks right). Mine definitely doesn't have DRL.

DRL and Automatic Headlights are 2 different things.

Unless you have a Canadian truck, or have installed the DRL Module you headlights will not come on unless the switch is in the on position, or Auto (If its dark enough)

If you want DRL, the module can be ordered though Ford and installed. However, once the module is installed the lights will not turn off if the engine is running.

Good luck

I stand corrected, the truck has the "Automatic Headlights". Sorry for all the confusion. So back to my original queston. Why in Automatic mode is that only the marker lights come on and not the headlights when its dark out. The headlights do work in manual mode.
