Default drivers window

I replaced the entire mechanism about a year and a half ago because the cable failed.

Today I rolled down my window for lunch without problems, after paying I went to roll it up and I got nothing.

Its a 2004 F150 super crew

I took the switch from the passengers door and tried to test the switch, but that would not work.

I put a test light on to see if I had power at the motor and I only have power when I go to roll window down and nothing when I go up.

So I jumped juice from the battery to get the window up and this indeed worked so I've got an issue from the switch to the motor.

Anyone ran into this problem before? Did I mention it was raining today? Go figure right

I had this problem. Come to find I had a broken wire. If you open your door and look in the door jam you will see a boot. I took off the door and pulled the boot into the door to expose the ton of wires that are in there. Looking through them I found 3 broken wires, so I soldered them together. But for me I noticed window response getting worse and worse until it stopped. It didn't stop at once suddenly.

Its very common that the switches fail on these trucks. I've replaced all of mine once and the driver one twice. I've also pulled them apart to clean the contacts and get a little extra life out of them. Its very common and a search should find you many how to's on this.

You basically pull the switch apart until you can see the contacts that it presses when you press the switch.. Clean these or file them down to bare metal and re-install. The contacts start to get dirty and black after a while and water doesn't help it.

Thanks everyone, I was able to clean the contacts and got it working again. I think if it fails again, I'll replace the switch, they looked pretty burnt up but still cleaned up decent.

Thanks again
