Default driver side interior door handle

i was running around all day today getting in and out of the truck with no issues. but by the time i got to work, i couldnt open the door from the inside. handle just pulls normally but it doesnt unlatch to open door from inside. i have to open door from outside handle at the moment.

now, i havent done anything to find out what exactly is wrong but did call the dealer and they qoted me around 150 bucks for the assembly. has anyone else had a similar issue and is there a chance that something just came unhooked and can be a simple fix or will i most likely need to replace the whole thing

grrrrrrrrrrr i shoulda known i'd get these replies lol but does anyone seriously know anything about it? how difficult is it really to take the paneling off (and put back on), is there a chance i'll be lucky and just have to re-attach something? or i just had an idea to take the drivers side rear door handle assembly out and swap them. would that work?

its an easy 20 min job to pull the inner door pannel off. i would do that and look at the movements of the door mechanism before you go to the dealer.

When i had my LS the wire that would open the door was only attached by small piece of plastic, eventually after the handle had been pulled countless time the plastic would weaken and snap. might be the sam setup here. the only real pain about replacing the door handle was that it had 3 huge rivets holding it to the door frame. a huge pain in the ***. not sure if the f150 is set up the smae or not.

thanks guys, i am planning on taking it apart to see what it looks like. i hope it only takes about 20 minutes cuz ive heard it can take up to a couple hours. and im hoping it is just a matter of something having just come undone. wont get to it for a few days tho.

ohh hey SICC, did you have to actually change the whole handle? or can it just be re-attached or or something like that?
