Default driver side grinding iwe or cv axle?

My 2006 f150 started making grinding sounds on the driver side. My iwe or hub actuator has some wear on the outboard side of if it. I replaced the wheel bearing hub assembly but was getting same sound. CV axle seems good when I took it off and has no sign of damage. I'm getting suction from the vacuum and it compresses the iwe all the way. But when I go to put it in 4wd it keeps constant suction. Any help? Let me know if you need more info.

I would look at the check valves on the vacuum lines to your iwe solenoid. Also if your solenoid has not been changed and it has the old style on it, I would go ahead and upgrade that part too. On the check valves ( 2 or 3 ) you should be able to blow through one end and not be able to suck back in.

I will check that today. Would that cause wear on the iwe? Thank you

It could if the system has a leak or check valve bad. It will initiate the iwes a little and eat away at the teeth.

The teeth look good but you can see where something was hiiting it.

I second the check valve recommendation. I was getting the grind during engine lug/acceleration and checked the entire vacuum system with one of those handheld vacuum pump/bleeders. System checked out but check valves were gone. I haven't checked the grind ware but it quit the noise immediately. 04 fx4

Mine had two, one to motor side of the solenoid just right of it. Another less than a foot away on the actuated side leaving the solenoid.
