All I have to say is good luck bud, they are a real pain. Its easier to do a engine swap than replace these things but to do so this is how we did mine. Take off the motor mounts and jack it up about 1 inch, it really helps out. Then get the 4 bolts out that are easy to do, then the 4 behind the shock tower are a real pain to do. If they are broke the best way to go about it is a long pair of vise grips and welder. Weld to the broken bolts then just back them out. If you have to weld experiance then take it to a garage. Otherwise your going to get real upset real fast

i got an 08 and i just hit 60,000 miles, (60,200ish) with a bad passenger side manifold leak. my buddy is a parts manager at a local ford dealership and he is going to check the 5 year 60k warranty tmw. it says in the warranty book that came with the truck that the manifold and bolts are covered under the 5 year 60k powertrain warranty. so we'll see... ill keep you guys posted, especially the ones with less than 60k miles! needless to say my fingers, toes, and eyes are crossed! i got a 700 dollar quote a couple weeks ago while getting my oil changed at a different ford dealership, and they never mentioned the possibility of it being a done under warranty.......hmmm....

Dear *****,

My name is **** from the Ford's Customer Service Department and I have had a chance to review your email. Let me start by saying that we are sorry to hear of the exhaust manifold concern that you are experiencing with your 2008 Ford F-150. I completely understand why you are contacting us.

As much as we would want to assist our loyal customers with the cost of the repairs outside the usual warranty, only recalls or Customer Satisfaction Programs can permit us to do so. Unfortunately in your case, it is with utmost regret to advise you that there are no current programs that can assist you on your request.

Moreover, please note that your vehicle manifold (exhaust and intake) is only covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles, (whichever occurs first). For further details, please refer to page 10 of your 2008 Ford F-150 Warranty Guide.

At this time, I do suggest that the repair be done by a Ford Dealership where the technicians are trained to put your vehicle back into factory specifications. Please note that any Ford covered parts replaced will come with a 12 months/12,000 miles Service-Parts warranty (whichever occurs first). If additional assistance is required, we suggest that you contact the Customer Relationship or Service Manager. They will further assist in facilitating your service/repair needs.

If you need assistance with obtaining your local Dealer's contact information, please visit http://www.fordowner.com.

On behalf of Ford Motor Company as a whole, I apologize if I fail to provide you with a more positive result. I sincerely hope that we might have the opportunity in the future to restore your confidence in our products and service.

Sincerely,
****

gotcha, thanks,

good news for me! its covered under the warranty! making the appointment tmw!!!!!! my guy at the dealership said its falling under the 80k emissions warranty? either way i think a lot of it has to do with the dealership, their discretion... ill keep you all posted with what i can find out about the warranty process for this. like the specifics of who qualifies and what not....

VERY PUMPED RIGHT NOW!!!!

its fixed, purrs like a kitten! no tick what so ever! very pleased, it was covered by warranty except for the studs and nuts that were not broke, so i had to pay for 7 of them, it was like a hundred bucks, ill pay that! and i did of course...... if you got less than 80k miles id recommend doing this, mention it "TICKS VERY LOUD IN THE MORNING WHEN FIRST STARTED", AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING ELSE! they will know what that means and if your millage is below 80k you'll be covered under warranty, but ford doesn't want it to be public knowledge of course.... the way they get a lil bit of money from you is by charging you for the 7 studs and nuts they took off that were NOT broke, they will not re-use them btw. but my original quote was for $750!!! $100 is nothing compared to that! some dealerships will try to rip you off, so make sure you know the warranty(emissions parts etc.) usually 8 year 80,000 miles) and dont let them hose you. good luck, i still cant get over how quiet it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
