Fix the cause, fix the problem.
I would guess tensioners and broken guides are 99% of the problem. Still the Dorman phasers have a high failure rate.

I'm with you there. Anything made by Dorman gets a LOT of internet searching and forum mining before I'll put it on a car. They have some good stuff, they have some bad stuff.

Those aren't too susceptible to mechanical failure or bad solder joints and the like!

Their FPDM is (apparently) a legendary problem solver here in the '04-08 section.
Their exhaust manifolds may be suspicious...
Their phasers are rejected wholesale.

Lugnuts? Send me two dozen!

Yeah, their FPDM is a gift from Him, Himself here. They're still in business because they produce (at least some) quality parts

Both my dipstick tubes are dorman and so is my engine block coolant bypass, so far so good..

I do however reluctantly admit that both my phasers are infact dorman, they came with my reman motor. I will report that they are actually working great, and they are the revised dorman part #.. over 20k supercharged miles on em to date. I tossed and turned for a few sleepless nights once the motor arrived, but I decided I'd rather keep my warrantee intact and not touch them.
