Where did you see that they are improved? I would NOT put Dorman phasers on the truck. OEM is indeed updated with better design, so my vote would be to use a Ford OEM part (Motorcraft)

Haven't heard anything, but not worth the risk. I'd stick with the big MC

This is what I was able to find on the new part number

Dorman's Engine Variable Timing Sprockets are quality-engineered for years of continued use and a longer service life. The original timing sprocket typically requires replacement due to wear and eventually leads to poor engine performance. Dorman's OE FIX repair solution offers a new design with a stronger alloy plate. The improved rotor design reduces friction, provides smoother movement to improve performance in older engines experiencing pressure loss. Dorman's Engine Variable Timing Sprocket comes with a new torque to yield bolt to easily attach the cam phaser to the cam shaft for a complete and convenient repair.

I would like to use MC phasers but in Canada the dealer wants 350-400 bucks a piece for one phaser. And with the special tools ,tools I needed to complete this job, and aftermarket timing kit, gaskets, VCTS I'm already like 1,700 bucks into this.

Default The phasors work very hard -- not the place to cut corners

I don't know how your tie in to ebay and amazon is . But I bought my whole timing kit OEM from OEM select ebay . $798. Of course I added stuff too that like 10360 melling oil pump amazon . Rollers and lash adjusters $265 oem select .
As for special tools there are ways around all of them . The handiest tool was the phasor toothed holding tool . I did not buy that valve tool ,it's a pain . Lifting cams is a better solution .

Sounds like 'typical' advertiser's marketing B/S to me. (Also known around these parts as "El Toro PoPo").

Can't we beat the tariffs by your ordering them from ebay, shipping them to one of us and we ship them to you? I realize that takes a bunch of trust - but I know a bunch of really good guys on this forum that I would have no problem trusting to do that.

Just remember this hypothetical: 12 hours of your time + Dorman phasers and all the other parts. Then when they fail another 8 hours + OEM phasers because you dont want to go through this a 3rd time. Or... OEM the first and only time? I dont think I would risk it with as many Dorman Phasers have been said to fail. I realize they claim to be updated but I have a hard time buying ANYTHING with the Dorman name on it even though I know some of their products are ok. Only Dorman products I will probably buy is maybe the transmission pan with a drain on it. LOL because it has no mechanical or electrical parts to fail.

I'm trusting the Precision Auto phasers from Freedom Racing. BUT! Use the Motorcraft Solenoids. Go to the stealership parts department and get the latest version. Solenoids and tensioners are probably responsible for 99.9% of dead phasers.

Fix the cause, fix the problem.
