Default Door Sounds Like It's Open

I live on dirt roads, pretty crappy dirt roads at that, and they take a toll on vehicles. Now when I drive over anything rough or bumpy, the passenger side door sounds like it isn't shut all the way. It is closed completely, but ya know when the door isn't shut all the way, it makes a distinct sound? Well is there anyway to fix this? I tried tightening up the bolts but they were all tight. The truck is an 04 supercab. Thanks

Has the seal gone to crap from all the rubbing? Just throwing out a guess, cuz I truly don't know.

I was gonna say the same thing... you check your rear door? I slammed my passenger door for a week before I noticed that the rear door was latched, but not pushed in all the way.

Sounds like you have the same problem I have with my driver side door from all the crappy IL roads...Unfortunately I have yet to figure out a solution either. I am thinking I need to weather stripping at this point. I don't see much else it could be.

Yep I would check the seal for a tear and if you can't find one then the door latch/striker is most likely your culprit.

Here is a dumb question, Have you double checked that the window does in fact go all the way up. Just cause you roll it up till it stops doesn't mean it is necessarily getting all the way up. Could be a leak.

Agreed. Check the door latch and striker. Realign if needed. I had that same sound on mine but it mysteriously went away. Possible my scab rear door was not fully closed, but that was stated on another post. Still, check the door hardware.
