Door Lock mechanical problem?
2006 XLT. Door unlocks when I pull the handle on outside of truck! I have power locks, without key pad, which seem to function when buttons and remote are used (The rod crisply goes up and down). Problem... If I pull the outside handle more than once the door unlocks! What the fire is going on in there!? Linkage issue? Actuator needs lube? Haven't pulled the panel yet, hoping for some insight before I go monkeying around in there.
Thats a strange issue. So you pull the outside door handle with the doors locked and they unlock? Are you sure someone isnt standing in the windows hitting the unlock on a spare remote? Not sure how the outside door handle would be connected to anything other than the door latch?
It is only effecting the driver door. All other doors remain locked. Wish it was prank.
I'm thinking there is some sort of relationship between the interior door handle and outside handle? If I'm not mistaken, you can pull the interior handle when the door is locked and it unlocks and opens?

After a closer look, the manual lock rod/button was not moving through it's full range of motion. Popped the door panel, pulled back the moisture barrier to see what I could find. There were no mangled, missing or broken parts that I could see. I exercised the locking mechanism at the actuator multiple times by hand, then sprayed lubricant on the moving and visible pieces. Exercised it a bunch more and TA DAH!!! It worked fine. All normal functions returned. Here is my conclusion: The actuator is aging and unable to over come much friction. It needed lube at moving joints. The locking rod passes next to the cable coming from the interior door handle and may have been rubbing/hanging up on the cable.
