Default Dome light wire

Does anyone know how to access the dome light wire in a 2005 F150? I have "Big Rig Lights" from RECON Truck Accessories that get mounted on the running boards and function as turn signals and running lights. They also light up white when the door opens as courtesy lights but for that to happen I need to wire them to the dome light. What's the best way to do this?

I'd say the easiest access would be running off the fuse box

I've got my GPS wired to the dome light so after the battery saver kills the lights the GPS turns off. I think there is a light in the foot that turns on when the door is opened, some trucks have puddle lights built into the side mirrors as well. Either way you'll need to run a wire down the pillar and to your lights.

The wire loom to the dome lights may run in either the drivers side or passengers side door sill channel. PM me tonight to remind me, and I'll check for the color code/location of the overhead dome light wire(s) in my Ford schematic book.

Black w/ blue tracer. Runs all the courtesy lights: rear cargo, puddle lamps, interior lights. when the door opens or when unlocking.

Can be found under both door sills, use a test light to double check

Yep. Black with Light blue tracer wire powers the front and rear dome lights (depending on if you have a super cab/super crew), or it's a light green with orange tracer if you have a regular cab or super cab without the overhead rail type console.

The black/light blue wire can be found on the left hand side C pillar for both the super cab and super crew (drivers side rear window corner ) or at the left hand side A pillar (drivers side cover between the windshield and drivers door). This piece is the easiest to remove and gain access to the wire.

Location of the light green/orange wire for regular cab/super cab without the overhead rail type console is the same.

Well I added the LED light under my running boards and I must say they look really cool.....a friend of mine is having me do his dad's truck and his truck......the lights I got from SuperBrightLED.com . I didn't take any pictures when I did my lights but I will when I do my friends two trucks so everybody else will see how it's done. Thanks Bucko for the wire color and location of where to find it!
Here's where I ordered the lights and other stuff needed for the install.
