Does Anyone Know if An XLT Speedo Microprocesser be Reflashed with Lariat Programming
So doozy of a question here. I would like to complete my EATC swap and I would like to not buy a new speedo since I cannot find anyone to correct the mileage of a new speedo to match my truck.
So when I did my research originally for the auto air swap, the manual air setup grounds the AC through pin 2 on the smaller speedo connector which then tells the microprocessor to send a signal to the PCM which then activates the AC clutch. The auto system communicates electronically with the microprocessor through the data line VT wire in pin 29 on the larger connector and then the micro tells the PCM to activate the AC clutch.
I came across this thread where some members suggested the microprocessor in the XLT cluster can be reflashed with the lariat programming http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...e-control.html
But no one ever responded to say if it worked or not. Anyone with tech experience know if this will work or do i need to watch ebay for a Lariat or FX4 speedo with the same mileage as my truck? The ford dealer is not giving me a clear answer because they cant fathom a non stock application for their products.
TIA

Dealer can reflash the PCM to match the mileage. I'm not sure about reflash for a different body style
You might check around with different dealers or actually talk to their electronics specialist to see if you can have your PCM flashed.

Isn't the pcm on the firewall? It was my understanding that if I swapped in an appropriate cluster the setup would work which would imply that the cluster is what needed to be reprogramed.
Ok well it turns out it doesn't matter if this is possible or not I cannot find a Ford dealer near me that will do it for me.
So how about this... Some Fx4s came equipped with auto air. SO does that mean that any Fx4 Cluster will have the proper flash program or would I need to have one reflashed if I got one from an fx4 with manual air?
I wanna avoid using the lariat cluster because A. I don't like the white background and B. I am tired of wiring and really dont wanna deal with the remote ODO/Trip/Reset buttons if I can avoid it.
