Default Do i need to re-gear

I have an 08 scab with the 5.4 and auto transmission. Im running 3.55 gears now with 33" bfg at ko tires on stock 17's. Im just wondering if I would see any increase if I shelled out the cash for re gearing. Most my driving g is stop and go. Thanks

re-gearing will help with some of the fuel because it will allow you to get it into an RPM range that will be lower

Re-gearing will help give you a little more pull at the wheels if your looking for pulling power

But you have to decide what you want more because you can't get both.

If YOU feel it needs to be done then do it.

Well I pull sometimes but mostly I would want MPG. My truck in the winter is my daily driver. And stop and go traffic really hurts my mpg. So I guess my main question is, IS it worth it? Thanks

you can buy alot of gas for what it's gonna cost you to re-gear the truck and keep in mind it won't improve it that much so you will really be spending alot to save a little imo

If you drive over 70 on the freeway you will waste MORE gas with gears, unless you have big tires I would save your money. I have 35s and 4.56s and my mpg is 13 mixed. Not that great. Only got me 2mpg extra I still fill up just as much as I used to. Has more power now tho..not much more but it definately heped. It wasn't like gearing a mustang ill tell you that. Don't gear your truck to make it a rocket. It didn't work out for me.

The gears for the rear end are cheap (couple hundred bucks) it's the labor to put it all together that is expensive. But it may be worth it to you....a set of tires will last me 2 or 3 years or 50,000 miles and if changeing gears nets you an extra 2 or 3 mpgs it all adds up. But you have to be willing to wait that long to get your ROI. If your thinking of selling and upgradeing to something different in the next year then don't worry about it.
