I have a 2007 f-150 FX4 5.4 3 engine. Everything is stock. I am interested in doing the DMV mod. It looks easy enough without much risk. I have 3 "muffler" looking flat boxes on my intake tube. 2 are between the intake tube and the front bumber and the other is between the intake tube and the firewall. For the DMV mod are these removed and caped? If they are capped what are they capped with? Are these just for noise suppression or do they serve some other purpose. How do you remove the short piece that goes through the fender, it looks like it just slips in, but mine does not move at all.

I know I know, I should save for a CAI kit, but I don;t have money for a CAI kit or the tuner to max the benefits.
