I have the exact same thing happening to my 06 s/crew 4x4. Only happens from a dead stop when I'm turning. I recently had a seal replaced in the rear (can't remember which one) By the sounds of it all I have to do is add this friction modifier and it should stop, can I get this at an auto parts store or do I have to get it from Ford? Thanks

I usually use the Motorcraft friction modifier, but if your vibration is still there chance are you will need to replace the clutch packs.

I just did mine last year at this time, 12K later it is doing it again..... Pi$$es me off, just put all the discs into my truck and now I have the same damn problem..... I will try changing fluid first once again.

I just had the rear pinion seal replaced. Wouldn't they inspect everything when this was changed?

Nope, you cannot see the clutch disks just by having the rear diff cover off. You have to pull it apart to actually see the disks.

So I added a bottle of Ford friction mod and has helped a bit but it is still noticable. Is it ok to add a second bottle. Thanks

No do not add another bottle, if you get too much in there you will loose your limited slip. It will become to slippery and the clutches won't grab.

They probably wont even remove the cover to change the seal, so, no, they wont service or inspect the clutches as part of the seal repair.

Another thing that I have noticed is that it doesn't shudder when it is cold outside. Tends to only do it when it is warm. The last couple of days it has been below zero celsius and it hasn't happened since. Is this normal? Unless the friction mod is "working" now? I have been driving it for a week (15km round trip to and from work)

My 07 4x4 XLT does the same thing. Took it back to the dealer under warranty and they added Friction Modifier (what is that?). 2 weeks later it's still doing it, I take it back, they say they couldn't reproduce it during a drive. What a crock. I still have it and now the warranty is out.

I'll call them back (again) and see if they are going to fix it or what.
