dirty engine
Ok, so I bought a truck with 60+K miles on it and want to believe the that this truck has never seen cheap gas, missed an oil change so on and so on. My question is this, with out a complete tear down and rebuild what is the next best thing to clean out a dirty engine. Please don't tell me about stuff you have heard about, there is a lot of snake oil out there. I would love to hear about products used first hand.
I have used seafoam (http://www.seafoamsales.com/) and BG 44K (http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html) but it didn't really seem to help that much and I worry about plugging up the cats in the exhaust.
Any ideas guys?

I have used Zmax and Seafoam. I have seen good results from both and it seems to clean out some of the build up. However, it is good to get an oil change pretty soon after running the Seafoam through. Zmax is a great product all around. As far as a dirty engine goes, run some Seafoam, change the oil/filter, fuel filter, air filter, check all the fluids and go from there. 60,000 miles is not much and unless you see some problems already, I would just go with a basic "blow through".

I use quality gas and add Techron to the gas about every 10k miles to clean the injectors. Marvel mystrey oil is something my brother swear's by, but then he drives a Chevy! I use Mobil 1 and change every 7k miles and have had no problems at close to the 100k mile mark. Original plugs too and I still get up to 18 mpg.
