Default Digital temp gauge

Any one know how to adjust or calibrate the digital temp gauge above the odometer? Since owning my 2005 F150 XLT SC 4x4 that gauge has read 140*F (assuming it's engine temp) ? Now all the sudden it doesn't have a reading, don't know what might have caused it to reset or go blank.

The analog gauge above it, still shows the motor temp to be in the middle, and ok.

There is a sensor that is most likely in need of some attention, or cleaning.

Open the hood and look at the front side of the center rad support. It is a cone shaped thing.

That is the sensor for the exterior temp.

If you are careful and clean it it should be fine

There are a couple of thread here telling you how to do this

Good luck

Once, I hit 100,000 miles on my truck, little stuff like this has been going on. Weird rattles, etc. I just need some warm / summer days to start working on it and check into some of these issues. Other than that, the truck has been pretty rock solid in 5 years of ownership..

Thanks for your help !

It's not your engine temp, but rather the outside air temp. As mentioned, try removing the sensor, verifying the contacts are clean, then reinstall. A new temp sensor will set you back about $25.00 from your Ford dealer if yours is shot.
