Why doe the digital read out on my 2006 f150 instrument cluster keep going on and off? Sometimes it stays on for days and sometime will go off after driving a few miles.

 

maybe the cable is loose?

 

I had an issue with the back light going out. Its a small bulb that is replaceable. Just pull the cluster and there is a small bulb right behind the display.

When it went out I could still see the display reading but it was very dim.
