Default different types of ticking

so my 05 5.4 with 103,000 miles has a slight tick that is pretty constant and only happens from about 800-1300 rpm it also has what seems to be the cam phaser tick that only lasts for a little and it comes and goes. my question is is this smaller more constant tick in only that rpm range a problem or exhaust leak?? I am using both motor craft oil and filter thanks

If it only happens at certain rpms id say exhaust leak for sure.

The 800-1300 rpm tick is most likely your VCT engaging. Your solenoids could probably use replacing.

To check, unplug one solenoid at a time and rev the truck up to that range to see if you hear it.

So if you hear or don't hear it, what's next?
