Default diablo pre programs vs. custom tune

I have the Diablo programmer and have it set to the performance mode with the cold air intake tune. I have gained a lot of power out of it all but the check ingine light has been on ever since I changed it... is that OK? Also would I get even more power from a custom tune compared to the Diablo pre set tunes?

You didn't think to pull the code and find out why your cel is on?

If the diablosport won't read the code, take it to autozone and borrow their code reader. Some codes are not read by the programmer. I have the diablosport with k&n 87 tune and had a code come on for unrelated issue. Once u find out what it is, if something small, mine was evap code, u can always unplug the battery to reset your computer. If u haven't done this since cai or programmer it would be beneficial as it relearns to your driving habits. Best to do with full or 3/4 full tank of gas, at least for the evap relearn.

No I have, it says it runs lean and a friend/ mechanic says its fine... I did the reconnecting of the battery and it still turns right back on? My question is more about the performance will I get much more power out of a custom tune over the preset tune?

What cai are u running? Mine has zero lean codes running the 87 k&n tune. I called a local cmr (custom tuner for diablosport) and he told me it wouldn't be worth it with just basic mods. I have intake, exhaust and programmer. He said if u start doing more extensive mods it would be worth it. There is a site where u can order custom tunes, but you would also have to buy cord to hook to computer. I have been satisfied with the canned tunes.

Are you running a one of the canned CAI tunes from Diablo? Running lean can be dangerous, it's not one of those things any mechanic should say it's fine.

Is the afe enclosed? If so you may want to switch to one of the other cai tunes that also has an enclosed filter. I can't think of the other brands it has tunes for, but I would try and sync up tube diameter size and if it is an enclosed filter as the k&n is open.

^ x2 Either figure out which other tune is closest to the diameter and MAF environment of the aFe or get a custom tune. Running lean is playing with fire, burn valves and engine damage isn't something to keep encouraging.
