Default Decent price?

I just purchased my 2006 F-150 for $13,900. It has 45K miles on it. In my area I couldn't find this style of truck with this appx. mileage for less than 16K. I shopped for a couple months before deciding on this. But I'm the worst when it comes to dealing with salesman and all that haggling BS, so I'm a little worried I was taken here. It's got Power everything, 4 speed Automatic transmission, V8, hardtopper on the bed, 4 door extended cab XLT. Like I said, for this style of truck, its the best deal I came up with.

Thanks for the info guys.

Munky, thats a heck of a deal you scored. Good job.

88, its a 2WD. I don't think the rims are anything special, they look to be pretty standard.

It seems to be an ok deal. But I guess a salesman will never really let you out the door without getting theirs.

When I went and looked at my truck (January 2nd this year), they were asking $19,900. I went in there knowing they were going to play this game and I had a plan of my own to take them on. I researched both new and used trucks to find out a good base for pricing depending on options. At this point, I told the salesmen I could go to a competing dealership and get a new 09' XL with the 4.6L single cab shortbox and told them I didn't need all of the extra power stuff (even though I wanted it, but they didnt know that). FYI, my truck was an 08 on the used lot with only 9k miles. He came back after talking to his manager and hit right at $16,900 which was fine for me. At that point, they were only going to give me $2,000 for my 99' XLT 4.2 auto with 128k miles, looked great. I told em I wouldn't take less than 3k for it and gave the motion I was about to get up and walk and without missing a beat, he said ok.

Whether or not you think its a great price, you gotta haggle as much as you can and be prepared to walk if they don't meet your expectations. I ran the numbers for a few months before walking in there to know exactly how much I could afford to pay and made that my threshold, but tried to get as low as I could. Sorry for the long post but I figure its better to be detailed in my explanations. As always, be weary of deals that seem to good too be true, they probably are. Overall, I think you got a good deal on it, they're always going to make a profit but you came out pretty well.

Well since its a 5.4 triton, then yes i think its a god deal.My truck i bought with 23k on it,xlt tow package i got for 18.5k out the door with the tax title license included.I walked in into the dealership and said i want this truck and this package for this price, can you do it for cash since your trucks are not flying off the lot. After going back and fourth for a couple of days,i got them to 18.5k out the door.
