Question Dashboard Trim Removal?

Hi all: We have a 2005 F150 and stupid us, dropped an e-cig in the crevice between the windshield and dashboard on the passenger side. I can't see the e-cig since there is a black stripe on the windshield (defroster function I think). Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to recover our e-cig? Looks like one should remove the tan plastic trim but I haven't a clue as to how to do this and doing that may interfere with the airbag.

Thanks for any insights/suggestions!

Peter

I have removed the entire dash before, but I can tell you that on the top there is a cover you can snap off where the dash meets the windshield. Believe there are two covers on each side(driver and passenger). The driver side cover removal gives you access to remove the security light and photosensor for the headlights. It's the cover that surrounds the red light, it just snaps off. You can use a trim tool to get it off or what I do is use a wide plastic paint spackle knife and use that to pry it off. I wouldn't just use your fingers could crack it.

The real issue here is if you pop them off, and you the cig fell deeper then that.

1)The dash is ONE piece. You could remove the entire dash but that requires removal of steering wheel, center console, and tons of bolts. (Don't do it)
2)If you can't see it after you remove the cover on top, then just go under the dash and see if you can see it from the bottom.
3)On the passenger side you can remove the glovebox. I'd do that, then look in there. You should be able to see it.

That's the best I can tell you.
