Hey been reading up on this issue due to battery warning light in my 2014 Ford F-150 FX4 (48K Miles) coming on and won't go off. So here is the story and the issue.
Light popped on with a bunch of other warning lights which is the same I have seen on you tube and all over the forums. Kept driving it for about 7 months because there was no other problems and figured when I get the time I will fix it.
Few days ago truck went haywire (every warning light went off and PS went out). With only 48K miles on it, I thought no way it can be the alternator...so went least expensive route and got a new battery (850 CCA- Duracell). Ran great until the next day....so new alternator and everything is running good.
However, the red light never went off (tried resetting PCM no joy. Followed the wires from the alternator to PCM and that's where the problem was...if you own a 2014 (not sure other years) there is a cable that runs under the oil filter (you have to move it out of the way to change the oil filter) if you pull on that wire harness too much, wires may snap or break (if they are corroded) by the fire wall. The other thing I noticed was chaffing of the wires. The wire that finally broke due to either force or corrosion was the ground wire that goes back to the PCM. What a PITA...but just posting to share to alleviate any headaches.
