Dash red brake light on
Did a search on forums but found nothing. 07 F150 XLT 5.4. The dash red brake light came on. I checked calibers on all four, good. Check master cylinder, now, just below max mark. I took out about 2 ounces, was over filled. Put emergency brakes on and off several times, noting. Checked made sure wiring was attached to emergency brake. Removed and reinstalled. Did a code scan, found nothing. Only have had this truck a very short time, looking for ideas...
Thanks

the brake light stays on in my 04. brakes work perfectly fine. at this point i would be concerned if the brake light went off. if your brakes work fine just ignore it and don't worry about it
It's your gauge cluster. There is some solder joint that loosens up. You can smack the dash, forgot if its upper left or right side of cluster, and it will go off. But, that is only temporary.
You can either get it fixed, or look for a new cluster. I lucked out, and found a member selling a fx4 cluster with close to the same miles on it, for dirt cheap. Swapped it into my xlt, and everything works perfect.

How hard is it to swap out the cluster. I could find one easily. The brake light is on and also the voltage light. Both are fine. Breaks were done not to long ago and the battery is a bit old, but the scan from shop showing right in 14.? range. So all good except the light.
And for the voltage light I believe that may be an alternator problem. If I remember correctly there is a separate circuit that feeds the cluster from the alt that can fail and it will still test good and charge because that is a different circuit. Not 100% on that though.
