Dash Rattle Track Down
On my 2007 XLT Scab I have an annoying dash Rattle directly in front of the instrument cluster. It only happens under acceleration and makes the truck sound like it's going to throw a rod at any second. It's an interior noise though. I even stick my head out the window at 60mph to make sure. (Pro tip: don't. ) Any ideas?
My advice is to push and pull on everything.
I had a rattle on rough road and shifts. My passengers were sure it was from the radio area, but I was sure it was the steering wheel or something in the bottom left windshield area. I tried everything. Even removed and remounted my Edge below the left pillar. Finally crawled under the dash with an assortment of screwdrivers and wrenches and accidentally banged my arm on my trailer brake unit. Rattle rattle. It was on a removable snap-in mount and it wasn't very tight.
Not suggesting that's what you're facing by the way. I had an RV where the steering column gear got worn, which shook a lot, somehow causing the steering wheel lock mechanism to fail. That was loud and you could feel it in the steering wheel, by the way.
