Default Dash Lights & Brake Issues...what to do?

Hey All,

So I've been trying to figure this out by searching and have found a few things but i'm not 100% sure I have everything covered off.

I'm running an 04 SCrew F150 4x4 with a 4.6L just had the entire brake system replaced incl the drivers side caliper (broke a part when it was dropped). The ABS light will come on randomly and the ABS will kick in randomly including on dry pavement. I've replaced the front sensors but haven't done the rear yet (its on the list along with checking all the wiring). The bearings have been replaced in the rear but not the front.

The Ebrake light also flashed randomly as well, I used to be able to pull the release handle and lift the pedal with my foot which would turn it off so my guess is the switch in there may be pooched? I was thinking I would try to lube the cables as well to see if that helps any...is there any other thing besides that switch by the foot pedal that would cause the light to come on?

This is what I have come to from reading through numerous posts in the forums, just want to make sure im not missing anything.

Which bearings were done in the rear? The rear sensor is far and away the most common to fail. If there is play in the diff then the sensor will get funky readings. Have even seen the tone ring on rear diff cut into the sensor. If there is any play in front bearings that could do it. You need a scan tool to narrow down what to look for. Maybe a sensor not seated properly or even a cracked tone ring

The axle bearings were done in the rear along with seals. The front bearings were looked at when I had the brakes done and were given a clean bill of health. I have ordered a new sensor for the rear diff and will see what kind of shape its in (if the tone ring has chewed it up). I am certain the fronts are fine though as they have been replaced and I asked the mechanic to check them when he was doing the brakes.

I was under the impression there weren't tone rings in the front on an 04-08 4x4...someone correct me if im wrong? Thanks for the help so far Kobi

There are tone rings on the front, but if I remember right they are integrated in the wheel hub and not accessable. So, that's probably not the problem. I think your wise to atleast inspect the rear sensor. Hopefully that fixs your problem. Let us know how it turns out

Rear sensor is on order so will see how that helps, if nothing else I will replace the hubs as its cheap for me due to work.

I will post updates, thanks again!
