Default Damn 4wd

I have an '07 f150 fx4 lariat with the triton 5.4. 4wd will not engage. Have done the troubleshooting on the vacuum system and everything seems to be in order there. Solenoid is working fine. Dash light is working properly as well. When I shift into 4wd there is an audible clunk in the front end as if it is engaging, but doesn't. When I try to drive after engaging there is a faint grinding as if the cv's aren't seating into the hubs. Did the whole tap on the switching motor trick too. Nothing changed. Does anyone out there have any ideas????
