If that's a 14mm nut that means the splined shaft is only about 3/8" to 1/2" inch in diameter... And I was exaggerating cuz of my being skinny joke the book calls for 40-60 ft lbs...

Whoop, looks like my memory ain't that great, must've been thinkin bout the inner shaft to flange torque spec haha...

Edit: Also you're right, the axle nut is way smaller... Man Its been a long time since I owned my '04 haha sorry to the OP...

I was hearing a whining noise in the front of mine between 55-70mph. I changed the front diff fluid and its not as bad, but you can still hear it sometimes. Would this have anything to do with the CV joints? How can you tell if they are bad or not?

I don't wanna drop the coin on parts if they don't need replaced..

I have found that if you turn the wheel all the way to one side and drive in a circle with the window down, and I hear a very noticeable click click click, that the joint is toast.
