I LOVE smart/adaptive cruise control. Although I love my truck, on long trips I rent a car with smart cruise control. It takes allot of stress out of driving and makes it much safer as well as fatigues much less.

The only reason I would buy a new car is for smart cruise control.

What did you tell them that you wanted done? Did they already know? My son works at a Ford dealership and says he's never heard of anyone doing that. The former Service Manager (a friend) from the same dealership also said he wasn't sure as he's never seen it done.

Edit: I just had this completed yesterday. I bought the switches from the JY for $5.00 and put them in myself. My son is a tech at the local Ford dealership and he did the update in the service drive. It literally took 10 minutes. I can see where they'd charge an hour for the update because there might be more than one procedure necessary to compete it. And seriously, it's WORTH $165 to get cruise control added on. It's awesome having CC on this truck. (also a "stripped out" 2005 reg cab/short box) I use the CC whenever I get a chance just because it's satisfying to finally have it. Lol.

Hello! Thank you for posting this stuff on here. I was hoping one of you could let me know what Ford Dealership was able to do the programming for you? My local dealer couldn't figure it out and hopefully i can reach out to one of these dealers you guys used and get some support.
Thanks in advance!

It looks like it might make a difference which buttons are installed also.

I had added the set that has the 3 cruise control buttons on the left and the 4 stereo/climate control buttons on the right to my 2007 F150 XL 6 cyl. I did this because my primary goal was to be able to use the stereo controls(which work just fine) and hopefully get the cruise control working as a bonus. I’m not having any luck. This is one of the replies I got from a dealership:

”On initial inspection our accessory catalogue lists "Kit - Speed Control, Add On Kit - Not Available" for any 2007 F-150's

When checking the parts catalogue, I show that the 6L3Z9C888AB includes radio controls. Are these the switches you have?

(See 1st image)

Sounds like from the forums you have posted on that it is possible, but if you have the above switches I don't think it will work.

We would want to make sure that the base level switches are installed, more like this.

(See 2nd image)”

I got this done for $60 parts and $185 software at the Ford dealer". I actually found out through the Ford F150 forum online I didn't really have to order a new steering wheel, you guys should try this some time it would save you a lot of time and effort to not be chasing new steering wheels for something like this!!" What a rip off that was going to be.

Thank you all so much for helping me out on this deal, I really appreciate all your help!
Hi karenmassey - This was on a 2021, correct? Can you tell me what dealer was able to do this for you? I want to call them and see if they can help my dealer figure it out so i dont have to go through Forscan on my own.
Thank you!!!

Hey @1996XLTSB, what exactly do we have to tell the technician if he/she doesn't know what I need done?

UPDATE: I installed the control switches today, I want to find a way to enable the cruise control. Any one have more ideas?

Before…

… after.
