Anytime you're painting plastic, you should spray them with a plastic prep first, then spray the paint, using Krylon Fusion for plastics, or comperable. This comes in a spray can and can be bought at a good auto parts store next to their touch up paint section.

Makes the paint adhere much better to plastics.

Yep. Then treat and spray the bed rail tops too. Remove and spray them to make them like new also.

I'm doing cowl tomorrow, on the fence about bed rails I don't wanna break any clips...my door panels were really in there and broke clips :'( lol

Just mask off everything really well and tarp the cab. I didn't want to break clips either so I left them on. Put time and effort into the prep and you won't have to worry about removing them or overspray
