Default Couple Questions?

As some of you know, my truck is about to go to the shop to get repainted after the key job it was given. So I'm have some things shaved and some other thing painted.

1) I'm having the handles painted to match. I thought they had to be sanded down first, but a guy at the shop said no, they they will just primer them to make them smooth. Which way is best?

2) Has anybody shaved their antenna? If so what did you do about radio reception?

Thanks,

Rog

when painting its crucial to have a well prepped surface. If the handle is textured already YES you can get away with only cleaning it. If your handles are smooth then YES you need to scuff the surface in order for the paint to adhere. Even if i had textured handles bieng it was my truck you bet i would scuff my handles again with 220 to make sure the paint never peeled.

I would scuff the handles, there is also a chemical that will etch the plastic like sanding it if its textured to get down inside the texture. Might look into that.

As far as the antenna you reception will be affected. Try un-screwing it and drive around without it and see what happens. Ask a radio shop if they have antenna's that you can stick inside your windshild for reception. Hope this helps

I bought a stub antenna for about $15 and my reception hasn't changed...and it looks much cooler.
