Expect pricing to be all over the place.

Great info, yall - thanks.

I went ahead and stuck with the Motorcraft Gold. Once I realized they weren't compatible I figured if I didn't get any of the Gold out, I didn't want the Yellow to cause any issues.

I went through the process of using 16 gallons of distilled water instead of the garden hose method because we've got really hard water down here in South Texas.

After I was done flushing, I tried to drain from the Radiator plug but was only able to get about 2.25 gallons out. I refilled with coolant but my mixture is heavy on water.

I'm assuming my only option is to continue to run it and drain and refill with concentrated. Any ideas? How does this not happen to other?

There must be some confusion. Motorcraft Yellow is completely backwards compatible.

The full capacity is 20.7 quarts. You need 10.35 quarts of water and concentrate. You were able to get 9 quarts out.

The goal is for you coolant to protect to -34 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually, burping the system and relieving pockets of air, then topping off with concentrated coolant does the job. You may need to drain a little of the mixture, then add concentrate until you get it right.

Attach a plastic tube to the petcock. Use a bucket with measurements so that you accurately gauge what you are doing. Test the coolant mix. Drain a quart of mix. Add a quart of concentrate, Run the engine to make sure that the concentrate has mixed into your cooling system. Test the coolant mix again. Repeat the process until you are at least at -34 degrees.

That's all great information and I appreciate the reply, but our trucks came with Motorcraft Gold, not Orange - they are different types.

I have not seen anything stating that Motorcraft Gold and Motorcraft Yellow are compatible - please share if you find.
