There are emission regulations and vehicles ARE supposed to have them on + the engine is designed to run with them. I only have 2 cats, so I don't know why the need to delete them.
No converters and you will get cels, unless you spend the extra time and $ to "fake out" the ecm.

Never heard about the smell though. In the early days of converters and emission controls, I remember the exhaust smelling like rotten eggs.

i have no cel and i dont have anything to "fake" it. im well aware of the laws and regulations of emiision systems, considering i work on them everyday. however one of mine was clogged and i didnt have the cash to buy the part with xmas coming up so i gutted them till after the holidays.

and ys it has a distinct smell due to all the unburnt gasses escaping the the exhaust with out the cats burning it off

ive always wanted to know why with todays technology why we cant seem to make an engine not need a convertor to pass emissions and make them burn the fuel completely or more completly anyway. maybe im just talkin out my rear or im just onto something that the government doesnt want you to know so that they can keep these cars from being super efficient and not using gas so much. who knows im just blabbering at this point.

but im not running them i have spacers that are basically spark plug non-foulers that put the sensors just out of the exhaust stream so that they still read just like the cats are still there. the only time the lights ever come on is after i seafoamed it thru the vacuum lines.
