Hi - I'm converting (or trying to) my 2004 FX4 console shift to column shift, so I can install an extra seat in the front row. I have almost all the required parts, but my question is this;

I'd like to transfer over the column shift pieces from a steering column I pulled from a junker, and put it into my existing steering column. The existing steering column has all the holes for the parts. However, I can't figure out how to get the shift linkage mechanism out of the junkyard steering column. It feels like there is a pretty heavy duty spring holding stuff in tension (when you pull back on the column shifter and feel that spring tension -- that is what I'm talking about).

How do I get that spring and mechanism out, and transferred over? Any write ups or service information? Thank you very much.

Also -- anyone want to buy a complete (including inst panel) FX4 console shift, including pass through console?
